Dear Palermo Union Elementary District Families:

Thank you for your continued patience and resilience with the changes we experienced in education during the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please be assured that we stand firm in our commitment to provide a rigorous standards-based instructional program designed to meet the needs of each and every student.  Based on our most recent surveys, we are preparing to reopen for students on August 12, 2020.

Using guidance from federal, state and local public health officials, which we will implement to the greatest extent possible, and in consultation with educational leaders throughout the county, we are planning on offering the instructional models described below for families as they consider the safety and well being of their students.  Please understand that the COVID-19 pandemic is a fluid situation that may lead to modifications throughout the school year.

Traditional Model:  Our traditional learning program provides the opportunity for students to come to school five days a week for “in-person” instruction in order to meet their academic and social-emotional needs.  This model will incorporate measures to increase student safety that are outlined in the PUESD Safety Guidelines for All Instructional Models (see below).

Palermo eLearning Model: This model provides an online learning platform.  Students will complete their rigorous learning objectives at home using an online curriculum.  In addition, students will have daily interactions with the teacher and weekly in-person or online meetings.

Please note: active participation is required and grades will be issued.

Please click on the link below to fill out a survey for your learning model preference for each student in your household that attends school in the Palermo Union Elementary School District.  Survey responses will be used for planning purposes only and your response is not binding. This survey is due by July 6th.

  • Registration: Registration information for these options will be available soon.  We will be mailing out registration information to all families.

  • School Reopening Teams will continue to meet throughout the summer to plan and prepare the specific details for both instructional models.  We will continue to share information and details as it becomes available.
